about

Edward Appleby's "Music for the Living" is an ongoing, open-ended project. The first volume to be released is comprised chiefly of three musical couplets, and their standalone cousin, "Santa Fe".
With an ear for cinematic sentimentality, Edward composed and recorded the "Music for the Living" in his living room during his spare time (between recording sessions for his forthcoming full-length album). These tunes are the result of a reflection of the illusory magic-moments of Hollywood: the first kisses in the rain, the extended monologues, the knock-down drag-out fights in a seedy bar, and the aureate "Aha moments" that provide clarity to so many fictional lost souls. These moments can be captivating for the young person, seeming all too real in a world of practiced stoicism and falsified niceties.
"Music for the Living," then, is to provide the soundtrack for these Hollywood clichés as they occur in real life: a little quieter, a little less peculiar, and a lot more internalized.
More volumes can be expected of course, as a world full of emotion--to Edward--can never stop needing its backup orchestra.
Edward Appleby is happy to present "Music for the Living, Vol. 1" for your listening pleasure!
